In the Bible, the “reluctant” prophet Jonah refuses to go to Nineveh, although God commands him to warn the people of Nineveh of His anger because of the city’s wickedness.  Instead, Jonah runs away and boards a boat to go to Tarshish across the sea. God sent a great storm to capsize the Jonah's boat.

The captain and the crewmen prayed to their God as Jonah retreated to the lower level of the boat to sleep as the storm raged.  The crewmen found Jonah and asked him why he was not praying and they inquire about his god.  Jonah answered, saying he worshipped the Lord, God of heaven, who made the sea and the land.  Jonah told the crewmen to throw him overboard to appease God and end the storm.  The crewmen resisted and tried to row the boat ashore but the storm was too fierce and they could not get it to land.  So they prayed for forgiveness and threw Jonah overboard at his request.

God sent a great fish to Jonah and he stayed inside it for three days and three nights. Jonah prayed during his time in solitude and he composed a psalm of Thanksgiving to God and the fish cast him on the shore of Nineveh.  Jonah warned the people of Nineveh of God’s warning and they repented quickly and they were spared God’s wrath.

So why
JONAH? Our ministry is not about the man…it’s about his journey!

Life's twists and turns take us on a journey that is often not what we would have intended, but through this process, we learn lessons, fight unexpected struggles, and face tragedies that while we are in the midst of them, seem insurmountable.
All of these life's events build us and construct who we are as people.  JONAH is based on the principle of taking those life lessons, struggles, and tragedies and turning them into a personal story to encourage and empower those around us who are going through the same situations.

JONAH will use our stories to give those who have experienced the similar tragedies, a new optimism and hope for a better tomorrow.
